Arts for All is holding a two-part FREE teacher training on November 14 and 19th, from 5:30-8pm at our studio. In an interactive setting, participants will explore Universal Design for Learning, connect with beginning and master level teaching artists, and learn how to plan creative classroom instruction that reaches ALL learners. Occupational, physical and speech therapists, and a specialist in Autism Spectrum Disorder will offer their expertise on how to integrate and adapt the arts for a wide audience.  Receiving this training…

More Winter Art Escapes fun

Jenifer Strauss, storyteller and artist, worked with students at TC Central High School as part of our Winter Art Escape program. She told them a Japanese folk tale, then the students made their own Japanese-inspired arts, plus learned to draw cats. It was great fun.

Winter Art Escapes 2016

We're in the midst of our Art Escapes series, which runs through the end of March. These classes are presented thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters. Thank you so much! There are teaching artists in 10 special education classrooms throughout the region as well as an art club at the Adult Work Center. Teaching artists include storyteller Jenifer Straus, who is presenting at Traverse Heights, and Rhonda Estes, teaching at East Middle School. Students are experiencing visual arts, storytelling, drama, dance, pottery, martial arts and more!

New dance location coming up

Dear Friends of ACT-GT, We were just informed by the Grand Traverse Civic Center that the Community Room we use for dances will no longer be available to us in 2016. The Community Room will be transformed into a workout room when the YMCA takes over the management of the pool operations. We are working on alternate locations and plan to host the annual Valentine and Spring Dances. The best way to stay updated is to check here often and like ACT-GT on Facebook.
